When brotherly love, isn’t!

February 28, 2011 Leave a comment

It’s not easy being an older brother, everyone thinks you have all the answers… I’m sure not easy being younger siblings etiher. Ppoint is, we all got issues, trials and tribulations. But family, is supposed to be family. You don’t get to choose your family and it shouldn’t be a competition either.

When we were young, we could act like that because we didn’t know better. Now is different, we’re all grown up– so why don’t act like it?

Intro to survival

February 20, 2011 Leave a comment

When I talk about safety and survival, I/m referring both to the International Maritime Organization (IMO) safety courses and Offshore safety courses. The IMO courses are from the STCW 95 (Seafarer Training and Watchkeeping Code) tables and are competencies that must be completed in the classroom and practical for sea survival, firefighting, first aid and social responsibility/ safety.

While the offshore course are for sea survival, some firefighting and helicopter underwater emergency escape training.

Those who play an instrument truly understand how much things change when we play our instrument. For that time, we connect with something that allows understanding, peace and clarity… the vibe. We express ourselves and really don’t care if anyone elase get’s– it would of course be nice if they did.

So don’t procrasticnate in continuing to learn your craft and in doing so seeking clarity…

Niagara Community Center meeting 17 Feb 2011

Having watched the video, much of what needed to be said was said but like any discovery phase or initial phases of a project or undertaking– follow-up and follow-through are paramount! Leadership! I’m a retired Naval Officer (LCDR/ 04E, like a major), married and living in Malaysia now and offer a planning and implementation tool I learned about in the U.S. Navy during my more than 23 years of service) called a Plan of Action and milestones (POA&M); when you need to get the job done, this tool can really help. Use MS Excel (columns as shown): Date/Event No./ Short Description of Issue and required action to resolve fully/Entered by/ Point of contact/ Completion Date/ Status (%)/ Remarks

I can help with this and have attached a sample…poamNCC17022011RevA

Community building

Once upon a time, people really cared,┬átalked to one another and help each out… or at least that’s the way I remember it when I was a kid. Maybe when I became an adult, I can finally see the truth; very few really think they can make a difference so they have this why bother attitude?
